Grandmothers -- with their golden age, seemingly innocent outlook, and exuberant love for their grandchildren, they're the best of a family in my eyes. I have had great times and memories with my mommoms and still continue to. Obviously, I could never imagine them doing something of an uncongenial manner, especially in the immoderate like of what the sixty-something grandma in this nine-minute mockumentary does for a living.

As the title Phone Sex Grandma indicates, this short film centers on an elderly woman (Opal Dockery) working as a phone sex operator. She goes about her daily routine watching TV, knitting, working on jigsaw puzzles, bathing, using the toilet, etc., while speaking to strangers at the other end of her headset in an attempt to get them off and does so like it's second nature. Her use of sexual dialogue is a bit more foul than I had expected to hear. I think I would actually feel less disturbed if I walked in on my grandparents having sex than having to listen to one of my grandmothers talk such a way. Whether she's either pretending to be a teenager, a preteen, African American, or Asian, it all ranges from off-putting to crudely humorous.

Within other media (like a sketch comedy show) or your own thoughts, I'm sure we've all come across the ironic placement of an unlikely woman opposite of those shown in the late-night hotline commercials serving as a voice, so the concept really isn't original; however, the execution is done fairly well. But at a point, the film's one-note joke basis easily wears thin; like when there's the rough elbow nudging of a close capture with her in the bathtub reading The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. True, it is pretty novel as a short film, but it only reaches so far. If this film's content was of a genuine, candid documentary, its tone and value would be of better viewing quality. Though as it is, Phone Sex Grandma is simply recommended for a cheap and leisurely vulgar cup of laughs.

Going to agree here - I checked the film out after reading this (I admit it, I couldn't resist), and even though it was funny at first, it really started to quickly wear thin.
