Presumed dead after a shoot-out with the Haddonfield police, Michael Myers is secretly nursed back to health -- and returns a year later to kill again and once more targets his young niece, Jamie. Jamie is now recovering in the local children's hospital after attacking her stepmother and losing her voice. Her mental link with her evil uncle may be the key to uprooting her family tree.

Oddly enough, John Carpenter was so upset with the way "Halloween 4" turned out that he considered taking on the fifth entry, just so he could end the franchise on an upbeat note. Alas, that never happened and we are left with the thoughts of what might have been. Instead, we get the worst entry into the franchise, the dreadful and worthless "Halloween 5". It's what happens when the studio just starts greenlighting entries for money and puts no effort in making sure the finished product is worth a damn. That is what happened here.
This film takes up one year after "Halloween 4", with Michael Myers surviving the barrage of bullet wounds from the previous film. Once again, he comes looking for his niece. I'll give you one thing -- he's determined. And, good old Dr. Loomis is on the hunt again, looking more and more like a California Raisin with each new entry. Will Michael Myers find his niece? Will Dr. Loomis get an action scene where he's not leaning against a wall? Will the soundtrack feature a song by a hair band? Yes. No. Yes. Any other questions?
I consider there to be three separate 'mini-franchises' within the "Halloween" franchise as a whole:
FRANCHISE #1 -- THE ORIGINAL
Halloween
Halloween II
Halloween H-20: 20 Years Later
FRANCHISE #2 -- THE STAND ALONE
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
FRANCHISE #3 -- THE SHIT
Every other "Halloween" film ever made
What pisses me off is that "Halloween 5" is the most commonly watched of the franchise because AMC airs it ten times a day every day leading up to Halloween. It's the worst entry in the franchise and more people see it on a consistent basis than they do the original. It's a travesty. Here, Michael Myers is reduced to nothing. He's a ghoul and nothing more. He stopped being a serial killer when he lost the ability to be apprehended, in my opinion. I found this film about as engaging as a termite infestation in my colon. 2/10.

While I did enjoy this, even as a kid I knew it
was a weak film. But I'm a sucker for the
boogeyman slashers, and I loved it just the same.

I & II
2. Season of the Witch

Halloween 4,5,6
4. H20 & Ressurection.
Besides the original, the series of 4,5,6
are my favorites.

Kind of surprised you didn't go into this movie
hyping to all mighty hell that MICHAEL TAKES OFF
HIS MASK! Nothing to get excited over though. They
had to cheat their way out of that as well.

Yeah...I forgot to mention that. It pissed me off
too, just like I hated whenever Jason took off his
mask. YOU DON'T TAKE OFF THE FUCKING MASK!!! You
just don't. The character automatically loses a
little credibility. And, I remember them using
that as some sort of hook, but they totally didn't
do a damned thing with it. If you're finally
gonna reveal the true face of someone like Michael
Myers -- it had better have some fucking impact.

in the original. So it being some big mystery

Yeah, but a lot has happened since the first film.
I lot of supernatural elements were thrown in the
"Halloween" soup, so his showing his face in the
fifth part was totally different than him showing
it in the first. Back then, he was still human,
supposedly.
