We had done most of my album almost a year ago, you know
When we started my album, we got almost to the end of it
And those guys were around
We were all just slowly becoming a circle of friends
Roy came in and we stopped in the middle of mine
And we did a couple of tracks for Roy
We were all doing these tracks
And Mike Campbell, who's the Heartbreakers' guitarist
Well we were all out in his garage doing these tracks
Just took over his household, really
And uh, ruined his marriage, his kids left
But that's another day
I probably shouldn't say that. But yeah, I will say that
But, uh, anyway, you know
We'd really just pull the cars out of the garage
and I'll start playing
And we had the control room in the bedroom
And all the mics out in the garage
It's the best sounding garage in the world.
So we did that — we did a couple of Roy's
And Roy would, you know,
Stay around and sing when we did a track of mine.
We did a Randy Newman track there
