Ahhh, Jackass. The crudest of the crude humor, the dirtiest of the dirty jokes, and the root of all the "stupid American comedy" jabs (yes, we really do enjoy watching grown men punch each other in the balls). These movies are love them or hate them affairs, and I'd imagine that most of you out there already have your opinions on the franchise, so let's just get right into the review, shall we?

Filmed in 3D (though I watched it in 2D), the appropriately titled Jackass 3D is more of the same stuff that you know and love or love to hate. This time around, they decided to up the ante a bit and go out with a bang. The guys are getting older and settling down, so what better way to go out than with one last hurrah and some of the sickest, most dangerous gags yet? Watch as Steve-O goes bungee jumping in a port-a-potty filled with dog shit, see the whole gang drink Preston Lacy's sweat, watch them super-glue themselves to one another, and of course, round out the entire affair with plenty of farting, ball-punching, vomiting, pissing, shitting, and old men macking on young women.

So yes, you know the deal: if you enjoyed Jackass and Jackass Number Two, you're going to love this. If you hated those movies, this one isn't going to change your mind. Personally, I am a fan of the series and this style of mindless humor, and in my opinion, this movie was better than the first two. It's readily apparent that they stepped things up with this release, and, everything is just a little nastier, a little more painful, a little more raunchy... and a little more entertaining. It isn't high art by any means, but there's just something funny about seeing a man play a trumpet with his ass or a bar full of midgets duke it out.

Save for Brandon Dicamillo, all of the guys are present and accounted for. You've got Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera (and parents), Ryan Dunn, Steve-O, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Ehren McGhehey, and Dave England, and with the exception of Steve-O, they all seemed to be having a blast. There was a joke made about Steve-O losing some of his charm when he stopped drinking and doing drugs, and even though it's smarter for him to be off of them for obvious reasons, I can't help but agree that a sober Steve-O is a bland Steve-O. He still did some nasty stuff in this movie, don't get me wrong, but his heart just didn't seem to be in it.

I guess I have to mention that Ryan Dunn is also entertaining here, in what will go down as his last appearance with the Jackass crew after dying in an automobile accident courtesy of mixing alcohol with driving. I really have no sympathy for the guy: he made the choice to drive that car, and he chose to accept the consequences as a result. Still, he was a funny guy, and I'm going to miss laughing at his stupidity.

Anyway, let's get away from all that and discuss the skits found here. It's a mixed bag, as are all of these releases, but I found that the bar was set a little higher overall. Sure, there were some skits that I thought were weak, and yes, there were some that I thought were downright dumb. However, there were a lot - and I do mean a LOT - of skits that had me in tears, and the "average" segments were better than a lot of the above-average jokes from the previous films. Again, it's still the same ol' "punch a guy in the nuts and fart in his face" style of humor, but it's more creative this time around and that goes a long way.

Overall, I had a lot of fun watching the boys do what they do best, and fans of the series will likely agree that this is one of their best releases to date. Who knows if there will be another movie after Dunn's death, but if there isn't, they left us with a bang. 9/10.
