John Stoker is the owner of the Fisher house, which in his words "makes the Amityville house look like a spinning teacup ride". He has hired a group of people to come in and hopefully cleanse the house of all the evil spirits and such that reside there. Leading the group is Ted Sturgeon, an expert EMF finder. He has also brought in Jack Ketchum and Joseph Monks, two experts in the paranormal field; Douglas Clegg and Martin Shelly, two camera-men who are there to get everything on tape, and Erin Cooper, a psychic. When they all arrive at the house, Stoker tells them the story of the house. Back in the old days, a man by the name of Alfred Fisher owned it, and used it as a whore-house. Fisher also dabbled in the occult, and apparently summoned some demons which now infest the house. Our heroes must now cleanse the house of the demons, but they sure aren't going down without a fight.

This was quite the good movie right here, coming out as one of the better haunted house films that I've seen in my time. The storyline presented flows along nicely, keeping things interesting from start to finish. The only gripe I had with the storyline was the ending, which was shocking enough, but also seemed a bit out of place. I'm usually not one to bitch about a non-happy ending as they're so few and far between, but I believe the writer of the film threw that ending in simply for the shock value of it, and not because it was a logical ending to the rest of the movie.

Unlike other movies in the haunted house genre, this one doesn't focus as much on the "haunting" aspect, but more on the killing side of things. Sure, there's a fair amount of creepy scenes thrown in to build the suspense level up, but the ghosts / demons / zombies here do much more than just walking around and rattling chains. There's plenty of bloodshed to be found and lots of gore, all of which was excellently done. Gorehounds certainly wouldn't be disappointed with that aspect of the film, as we're treated to kill after kill throughout the running-time and each is done with greatness.

The acting throughout the film was pretty good, with only a few exceptions. Sergio Jones plays Stoker, and while he manages to get his points across in his scenes, he comes off as being quite bland and boring... almost as though he were just reading cue cards for his scenes. Jane Scarlett as Erin also fell into this category, but at least Stoker didn't get a whole lot of on-screen time. Clark Beasley Jr. plays Sturgeon and is slightly better than the previously mentioned names, but he still wasn't up to an acceptable level of goodness. Thankfully, Sturgeon was a black guy, and we all know how black folks are treated in horror films... let's just say we didn't have to put up with his acting efforts very much. The scene-stealer of the film, however, was Jim Coop as Ketchum. He was beyond great in his role, and really should have received more time to do his thing than he ended up with, which was quite the shame. The rest of the group, rounded out with Victor Flynn (Monks), Aaron Clayton (Clegg), and Mike Sinterniklaas (Shelly) were all decent enough; nothing worth huge amounts of praise, but nothing to bitch about either.

Overall, worth the viewing if you're a fan of haunted house films. There's a very nice mix of storyline, gore, and sex to keep things interesting, and most fans of the genre should come out happy after a viewing of this one. 9/10 from myself.

For being the very first movie Shriek Show produced, I'd say it turned out quite well.

I got this movie for a buck at a garage sale. I want my money back. Its like a late night skinamax film with some blood thrown in.
