Lindsay Lohan stars as Cady Heron, a 16 year old homeschooled girl who not only makes the mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels, the ex-boyfriend of queen-bee Regina George, but also unintentionally joins The Plastics, led by Regina herself. Join Cady as she learns that high school life can and will be really tough.

Review by Chad
Added: May 17, 2004
Cady has just moved into the neighborhood and enrolled in the public school, after having lived in Africa with her parents and being home-schooled all her life. She quickly learns about all the cliques going on in the school; the jocks, the stoners, the fat kids, and the Clueless-Girls crowd (known as "The Plastics"). Cady doesn't seem to fit in anywhere, until she meets Janice (the typical lesbian) and Damien (the uppity gay guy). She seems to fit in nicely with them, things go great, until she meets the Plastics.... Regina, the leader of the group, Karen, the dumber-than-dirt blonde, and Gretchen, the rich bitch. They seem to take a liking to Cady, and want her to join the group. Cady relays the information back to her friends, and they convince her to join them to get info on what they do and who they talk about, in order to get back at them for Regina fucking with Janice back in the day. However, Cady soon starts to fit in with them a bit too well, turning into a Plastic herself.
Normally, I wouldn't have checked this movie out at all; however, the file-size was sm...... the lines were short, and it was quite easy to find so...... get into the theater, and there wasn't really any other fi...... movies playing that I was interested in, so I figured, why not. Surprisingly, this ended up being quite the funny movie, though it did follow the teen-school-stereotypes that almost all the movies of the genre before it had. If you've seen the parody film entitled "Not Another Teen Movie", you'll know exactly what I'm speaking of here. But since this was a comedy as well, I suppose it all works out.
The storyline was pretty simple. Cady joins the group, starts turning out exactly like the girls she had originally despised, and lots of backstabbing is to be had. When the groups secrets get out to the general school public, things get a bit nasty, and Cady realizes the error of her ways. The main portion of the movie is just the comedic side of her getting with them, things that go on, but then it turns into more of a preachy deal about the evils of talking behind peoples backs and how it hurts people. That part got just a bit sappy and lame, but maybe it was just me. Otherwise, the story did flow pretty nicely, kept me entertained, and even pulled a shockingly high number of laughs throughout.
The characters themselves are generic, everyone could be identified as having been done before in a number of other similar films. However, the actors and actresses really play their parts nicely and fit into their stereotypes excellently. Lindsay Lohan plays Cady, the nice-girl star of the show, and does a nice job in her role here. Amanda Seyfried is also great as Karen, the two-steps-up-from-retarded blonde, and was solely responsible for most of the laughs to be found. The rest of the cast are nothing special, but nothing too bad either; though, most of the kids here would be recognizable to anyone who's been in a public high-school, which was pulled off nicely enough.
Overall, a nice little comedy that is actually funny, and worthy of a check-out if you're into such films. 7/10.
