Thanks for the bundle of joy you put inside me
Seventeen years old and without a clue
On how to be a kid's mommy thought I'd always have you
Right beside me through it all but it's more like every blue
You come around or even call y'all feel me
Like you know how tryin to raise a child
And just a kid yourself but gotta be a woman now
Will I find a job will I graduate from school
Will I have the time to do the things I used to do
Goin through so much all alone was hard
Morning sickness had me dizzy throwin up
My lord, mama tried to warn me, of growin up
So fast, be a child while you can because it sho won't last
I had to be the bad ass, hella flip and stuff
Cuttin school and breakin curfew y'all just to lay up
Sho wish I woulda listened cause it really is tough
A single parent adolescent yep he left me stuck
Body goin through changes stretchin out of proportion
Some days feelin so moody, wishin I had chose abortion
But when it started movin, we became one
The ultrasound had me glowin showin my lil son
Thank God and please bless me, and my unborn soldier
Always rubbin on my belly baby how I adored ya
Didn't even have two cents to rub together
And there were Pampers, clothes, and milk, to buy
But I, knew that I would find a way to make things right
Doin what I had to do to bring comfort to you
Cause you are everything, yeah
My baby, my sweet, you are everything
You are everything, and everything is you
Though your daddy chose to stray
I'll stay right here with you my baby
You are everything, and everything is you
No matter how rough the days are
I'll be right here for you
I used to trip hard because your daddy got ghost
Fatherhood was optional, in his eyes and so
I had to let him live his life slangin on the corner
Write him off in my mind as just your average sperm donor
And keep on movin, stayin healthy and focused
Though at times I wish that he and I coulda been closer
Cause it's gonna be hard bringin a son to this world
Doomed before he even slides up out of my womb
Girlfriends in my ear tellin me what to get
Go apply for welfare, go and sign for WIC
Doctor visits kept me scared because it was all new
But I kept on goin cause it was best for you
Nine months I was stressin thinkin bout my life
Will I be a good mother, have I sacrificed
Enough to be touched, by his heavenly hands
And even blessed to turn this child into a strong black man
I kept on prayin, even in the labor room
Feelin nothin but pain screamin my mother's name
Huh, and then all the pain ceased and turned to joy
When the doctors held up, my beautiful little boy
We've been through a lot, seven years have gone by
I watched you grow and when you took your first step I cried
And now I know you're on your way to bein that real black man
Responsible respectful because you understand
A young mother's struggle and how she plays two roles
So to the brothers hangin in, I say much love goes, to ya
Cause just the little things you do
Helps a woman out a lot tryin to raise her youth
And sisters hold on, even when times are tough
Give your babies a kiss, a hug and show em some love
Cause they are everything
Give your babies a kiss, a hug and show em some love
Cause they are everything
You are everything, and everything is you
Though your daddy chose to stray
I'll stay right here with you my baby
You are everything, and everything is you
No matter how rough the days are
I'll be right here for you
This goes out to all the single mothers
Raisin their little queens and kings
Sisters be strong cause your children are everything
And all the brothers bein there and takin care of what's theirs
Much love and respect goes to you say what
And to the ones that's laggin, it's not too late
Don't miss out on somethin so great
I gotta say what's up to my babies Shawn and Ty
My everything
You are everything, and everything is you
Oh oh oh oh, you are everything, and everything is you
Oh oh oh oh
I'm gonna carry you, til you can carry yourself, on your own
And I'll be there for you, when you need me
Cause you're my everything, my sweet baby
I'm gonna carry you, til you can carry yourself, on your own
And I'll be there for you, when you need me
Cause you're my everything, my sweet baby
