The holly and the ivy
When they are both full-grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly stands alone
The holly bears a blossom
As white as lily flower
As beautiful as snowfall
More beautiful each hour
Oh, the rising of the sun
The running of the deer
The playing of the pretty flute
Sweet music to the ear
Lovely music far and near
The holly bears a berry
As red as any rose
And somehow seems more merry
Than any tree that grows
But the holly bears a prickle
As sharp as it can be
Just beware, the thorn might stick you
So pick it carefully

As bitter as it's brown
Still we come to pick the berries
To decorate the town
