I watched the evening draw in
I watched the night time falling down
Falling down
I got accustomed to the gloom
Until the sun crept in my room
In my room
And as the daylight fell flat upon its face
The iron sky came creeping up behind to take its place
And the rain fell like bullets from a gun
And the sky came and swallowed up the sun
So I buttoned up my coat
And I went out for a walk
Beneath the iron sky
I felt the water in my shoes
I saw the lights get through the gloom
I stood atop the bridge and watched them creeping home
Down the river road
And the rain fell like bullets from a gun
And the sky came and swallowed up the sun
So I buttoned up my coat
And I went out for a walk
Beneath the iron sky
And the rain fell like bullets from a gun
And the sky came and swallowed up the sun
So I buttoned up my coat
And I went out for a walk
Beneath the iron sky
Beneath the iron sky
