Casually he sees the fallen orders
From the line he's in, the lines outside
He sees their cold faces
And their cold and violent trenches
As he hesitates
He knows he has to tell them
And yet he knows his self-defence is like a plague
Gently as he peals his hide
And there he tells his restless friends
All live and well, the guys send out away
Their orders come, they're marching
Rushing barely as he sees them stop
He knows he's in the run, no other way
He sees their lives
He knows the truth
He sees
He paints their graves
Shadows that follow him there
He tells the guys send out the waves
He writes himself an after sign
A future no one hides from
And it makes sense then
He knows that if he ever cuts, he hides
He never tries the suicide, he always defends
He feels their lives
It's called desire
Gently as he peals his aid
Down the line, the sign will fade
The tunnel dimmed, the light grows short, you see
He grabs his rifle, with a man
He takes another look and then
And then he points the enemy, you see
As he sees
As he knows
Gently as he peals their lives
There he sees, he cries, they're blown away
He knows the men
No orders from the sea
Not the face
He brings them to the line
Orders from the guys are loud
He tells them in the coldest final lies
One more chance, he's blown in line
He tells them, "Bring the dice"
And now you know it's right
He sees and cries, he's fighting
He never fails to hide and fail away
He knows the dead as he hides
And there he tells, brings the stuff
He never sees and now will go away
He takes the shot, he never sees
And there he finds the battle fields
The cries and panic roar, don't know the dead
A cry stabs the arctic eye
You'll never see the faceless sky
You'll never see the end of what's beneath
