Here's mixtape and the recording of 'I Got The Blues'
I know we did it in the Olympic and the thing about this is really slow
I mean, it's a notice-reading kind of style tune, but it's not a nick of any of his tunes
But it's in the style of, yeah, the horns are really needed
It's like that Southern kind of band stuff
You know, he did these very slow tunes
I mean, he also did tunes superfast, but he used to do these super slow ballads
And so, we were inspired by that
And sometimes when you get like really slow tunes like this
It's very hard to keep the slow tempo
You just speed up
I mean, we're that kind of band; we will speed up things
But this one really holds the tempo and this kind of wrenching
You have to have this feel that it really wrenches at you
And you can only get that by doing it really slow
And I think this really comes off
It's not an easy number to do because when we've done it on stage
I've always found it quite tricky
There's the pace, it tends to speed up on stage
It's hard to keep it on the tempo, and it's quite hard to sing
I'm sorry, in the studio, but when you get out there, you just go up
It's like noticeable
But it's a good, it's a good tune to do
It'd be good to do it once or twice
We'll want to do it every night, to be honest
