In total disregard of the shocking rumours about the grisly DeFeo murders, the young married couple, George and Kathy Lutz, along with their three kids move into the seemingly ideal, and above all, surprisingly affordable colonial house in Amityville, New York. However, before long, inexplicable occurrences and disturbing incidents start to blemish the Lutzes' noble desire for a peaceful new life, as the house's evil gradually erodes the personalities of the once-happy family, transforming the idyllic home into a nightmarish portal to hell. Now, as a mysteriously sullen George obsessively sharpens his axe, the local priest, Father Delaney, begins to realize that, indeed, satanic forces are at work. Can they escape from the diabolical Amityville horror?

Our happy family move into this wonderful house in Amityville, only to find it's haunted. At first, it's minor things; strange noises, things falling to the floor, things of that nature. Then, things get worse... much worse.
First up, I'd like to point out that contrary to what some people think, this movie is not true or based on true events. It's fictional. All the way through. So, how was the movie? It was pretty mediocre, if you ask me.... the storyline was good, it just seemed like there should have been more to it.... like, it's missing the last 20 minutes of the movie or something. That ending that they used was just pitiful. The split-second of gore in the dream sequence was quite nice, however, and the effects were, for the most part, done decently enough.
If only there were more of an ending, the rating may have been a bit higher... but since there wasn't, I'm going with a 4/10.

A 4/10? what the hell? This isn't the
scariest movie ever made but still....it's
damn good. So much better than that fucking
remake. I'd give it a 8/10.

It's better than the remake and the sequals,
what is that saying? Personall I found nothing
redemming in this movie. The performances were
probablly the only thing I didn't hate, it
was like the actors were actually trying to save a
very weak-ass directoral style and failed. The
story was piss... it was not interesting, and this
is coming from the guy who gave "The Ring
2" a chance after all of its negative
reviews: I love ghost stories. This didn't
even feel like a haunting half of the time...
2.1/10 for all the cast and crew involved... minus
Rosenberg, ofcourse.

This one sucks. Well, I guess it's alright.
The remake is better, and I find part 2 better
than the original.
