Faced with the prospect of permanently closing her small, independent publishing house, publisher Lucy Stanbridge makes a bold bid to resurrect the career of the cantankerous and controversial author Harris Shaw. Despite his initial resistance and overwhelming vitriol, Harris develops a begrudging respect for Lucy's plucky determination and resolves to help the young publisher market his opus, yet on his unorthodox terms.
