Did you ever wonder what happened to Francis, the bike stealing fattie from "Pee Wee's Big Adventure"? Well, he is alive and well and murdering young boys in "Gacy", the semi-autobiographical film based on the murders if the notorious John Wayne Gacy, who seduced young boys to his young, murdered them, and buried them in the crawlspace under his home.

Mark Holton stars as Gacy, and plays him as a man who could be your typical next door neighbor, except for the fact that he has this terrible odor always pouring out from his basement, and a really bad bug problem caused by the many, many corpses buried under his home. Holton is just too damn weird as Gacy. We don't see him as someone who could so successfully lure young boys into his clutches. Holton plays Gacy with zero charm and zero tact. The only thing he has going for him is the fact that he has a talking genie and a talking chair under his command -- he stole those from Pee Wee also. It hurts when your lead just plain stinks.

This film was just like every other serial killer biopic. "Dahmer" at least managed to give us some insight into Jeffrey Dahmer the person. "Ted Bundy" at least turned murder into comedy. "Gacy" is an uneven and dirty film which really holds little to no artistic merit. Gacy kills these boys in various ways, from his patented hammer to the head technique, to his 'put them in a stockade' routine. I almost felt like this film was intentionally bad. Alas, it is pretty obvious that they were aiming for some kind of success.

So, why should you avoid "Gacy"? Well, there is really no reason why you should see this picture. It has no redeeming qualities and it might even make you form contempt for the motion picture industry. John Wayne Gacy was a fascinating person, and his story does deserve to be told, but by someone who can give it the proper treatment. I wanted to see more of what made Gacy tick. I wanted to see exactly what he did to his victims; and, I don't mean that in an evil way -- I just wanted to know how depraved he was. First he stole Pee Wee's bike... now he steals your valuable time. 1/10.
