A woman named Julie tells her daughter the story of her high school romance in the early '80s. Flashbacks reveal a younger Julie, a privileged girl from the California valley, falling for bad boy Randy. The two cannot deny their connection, and struggle against the prejudices of their friends and family to keep their romance alive.
