David is on a train coming home from New York after a job interview. Along the way, he tries to mack on a fellow lady passenger, only to be shot down for his efforts. Soon afterwards, the train derails, and everyone on board is killed... except David, who escapes without a scratch. Flashback to 1974, and we meet Elijah as a child. He suffers from a disease where his body does not produce enough of a certain type of protein, and hence, his bones are very brittle and break easily. Back in the present, Elijah hears about David's miraculous event, and contacts him. He explains that he knew that if he was on one end of the spectrum, being easily injured and such, then he knew there had to be someone on the other end of that spectrum; someone who was unbreakable. One thing leads to another, and David decides to use his powers for the good of all mankind.
This movie is supposed to be the first part of a three-part series. If you look at it as such, it's much more interesting, since this one seems like it ends too early. Always something to look forward to, I suppose. However, if you judge it based on the content of this movie alone, it still suffers from the letdown of an ending. The ending itself is a shocker, as it was in Sixth Sense... but in this one, Bruce isn't dead throughout the movie, it's a bit better than that. It was quite interesting, and since this was my second viewing of this movie, I caught a lot of stuff which hints at the ending throughout the movie; that ending twist should have been obvious, but it wasn't. Nice stuff.
The acting is superb, especially from Elijah (Samuel L. Jackson). It seems as though that man can pull out great performances in any of his roles; definitely becoming a fan of his. David (Bruce Willis) did alright in his role, though it was nothing special. He basically acts the same as he does in most of his other movies, so judge him based on that. There was zilch for special effects used, which I found a bit shocking since this movie was based so heavily on comics; however, they aren't missed at all, as they would have seemed out of place had they been used anywhere.
Speaking of comics, this movie features a lot of comic'esque events and scenarios, which was interesting. It portrays David as a comic superhero of sorts, and Elijah is his mentor, showing him how to use his powers and convincing him to be more active with them. Some other reviews I've read have mentioned how all this is quite hokey and corny, but I thought it was enjoyable. I suppose you, the potential movie viewer, should be the judge on whether or not you'd enjoy that type of thing.

I thought this one was one of the worst movies I
have ever seen. Granted, I got my movie reviews
confused and thought this was one where people
keep getting possessed by the Anti-Christ...when
the movie ended, I thought it wasn't even half
over yet, and I was disappointed.

Wow. I loved this film. Thought it was better
than "The Sixth Sense". Shyamalan really takes
time to develop his characters and I really
appreciate that. This film was exciting because I
wasn't sure where it was going, but when it got
there, I was in awe. Bruce Willis is great when
he plays understated and Samuel L. Jackson gets
one of the best lines ever at the end -- "They
called me Mr. Glass". Amazing film. 10/10.

Wow, 10/10? Better than the Sixth Sense? I
wouldn't go that far. I thought this movie was
decent and I thought that Samuel L. Jackson and
Bruce Willis both played their parts great. Even
the overall look of the film, with the dark blues
and blacks was beautiful. But....I just got bored
with the story. It just kind of dragged on. I
dunno, I just didn't get sucked into the film.
I'd give it a 6/10.
