Laura Croft lives in her huge mansion with her butler and a robot-geek. She spends her days training and such, and a day comes when she turns down a few tomb raiding jobs in Egypt and on a Spanish galleon because she's depressed about her presumed-dead father. However, one night, she hears a strange ticking sound coming from downstairs, and finds a hidden room under her staircase. In this room, she finds an antique clock, which is counting down to something instead of keeping the time. Could this have anything to do with the oncoming solar eclipse that only happens once ever five-thousand years? Could a secret-society group hunting for an artifact that will give man the powers of God have anything to do with this clock? Only time shall tell.
First up, the story sounds much better, even in my brief and rushed intro, than it looked on screen. Not that the idea itself is flawed; oh no, it's decent enough for a movie like this. However, everything storyline-related was rushed and scattered, and it seemed like more of an excuse to keep the dozens of action scenes going throughout the movie.
Yes indeed, there is quite a few action scenes, and it never slows down. Now, these action sequences themselves are nicely done, save for a few where the CGI'ed harnesses and such aren't cut out very well; but the problem here is the fact that that's about all you get from the movie. Take an action scene, throw in a bit of story to lead to the next action scene, a bit more to lead to the next, ad nauseum until the end of the movie. I do believe that even the game that this was loosely based off had more storyline going for it, and that's quite a sad state of affairs.
Angelina Jolie did a decent enough job in the physical part of her role as Laura, no real complaints there. It seemed like she went through a good amount of training for her role, even getting the accent down semi-decently, and it did pay off. However, while her physical scenes were nicely done, her acting skills didn't quite work out for me. They just seemed too blah and forced throughout most of her dialogue scenes.
Overall, a fairly decent action film, but like so many before it, nothing really memorable. 4/10.

Her everything is fake, her tits and lips are
balloons, I think even her ass is fake! I wouldn't
want to grab them and would gag if she offered, I
never had a taste for plastic. The only thing
that was worth watching here was her workout, it
gave me ideas.
