This one is very loosely connected to the whole Hellraiser series; it doesn't really fit in at all. Pinhead gets about one minute of total movie time, which was a bit of a disappointment. The storyline is this: Joseph is a bit of a crooked cop. He fucks whores, does drugs, and steals cash from the evidence room. Actually, a bit of an average cop, but anyway... he goes into a murder scene and finds that the guy had been torn to pieces, and lo and behold, the box is in the room. Joseph takes the box, leaves, and goes to find a whore for the night. He goes in and gets it on with her, then goes into the bathroom and plays with the box. It opens, allowing Pinhead and the cenobites into this world, and now, they're after him. People around him keep dying off in gruesome ways, and with each murder, a childs finger is left at the scene. Joseph must find the killer before the kid with the missing fingers is killed as well.

This was a really good movie in its own right, but it shouldn't have the Hellraiser tag on it since it's really not even a part of the series. The box is only used to start the movie up, and after that, it's not important to the storyline at all. Pinhead and his usual slew of cenobites are very rarely seen throughout the movie, as most of the scenes are of Joseph finding the remains of victims and trying to put together the puzzle of the case. However, I'm going to judge the movie on the content and not the title, so it fared nicely.

The storyline came together nicely throughout the movie, coming to a stop with a great, shocking ending. It keeps flowing nicely throughout, there's never really any dull moments to be had, and all of the twists actually made some sense. There's not too many actual killings to be seen, but loads of dead bodies and gore to be seen... these were all done nicely enough. The acting was top-notch, especially by Joseph (Craig Sheffer), who is very convincing in his role.

Overall, don't look at this as a Hellraiser sequel, just get it with the intention of seeing a nice horror / thriller movie, and you may enjoy it. 7/10

Hellraiser 6 (Hellseeker) has a pretty similar plot to Inferno, but it's pulled off a lot nicer and isn't as boring. So if you like Inferno, check out Hellseeker as well. Besides, Hellseeker has Dean Winters (who played Ryan O'Reily, the best character on the show Oz).

I think this is the best entry out of the bunch excluding the Hellraiser 2. I just really liked this one. It's a whole hell of a lot better than 3 or 4.

No... no we don't... they were similar in no way and had alot to do with the themes of the "Hellraiser" movies... your comparison is incorrect.

I can see what she meant, the whole Halloween 3 having NOTHING to do with Michael Myers, and this movie having essentially nothing to do with the Hellraiser series, but she's a little incorrect, yes. 6/10

You can argue the semantics of whether or not this is a true "Hellraiser" movie all you want, but either way it was an awesome little mindbender. I'd argue it's a definite Hellraiser flick at its core; the only thing that's altered is the cenobytes' MO.
