A Tale Of Two Sisters
|

The girl under the sink was the creepiest thing
I've ever seen. Like a gazillion times more scary
than Sadako in Ringu.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

This movie felt a lot like Spider-Man 3. Too much
shit going on in too little time.
And
it's a little worse.

The Happening
|
|
M. Night mentioned that he set out to make a
B-Grade 'horror' movie.
With that in
mind, I watched it and I could not stop giggling
at how true his statement was. It wasn't made in
defence because it bombed... he really meant it.
The shots, the acting, the trite and idiotic
dialogue... Especially the shots. He just wanted
to have fun with this movie. The only difference
between this and an actual B-Grade movie is the
budget and his name on it.

What was the mystery movie in 1998?

A Scanner Darkly

I liked this movie.
I tried reading
the book, but got lost within 10 pages. I managed
about halfway through the first scene in the book.
There was just too much science babble.

Capote
|
|
I love this movie.
The other version
of Truman Capote's movie had Truman making out
with Perry Smith. And Truman was played by the
same short guy from The Mist.

Reincarnation
|
|
I saw this movie in the theatres (because I live
in Singapore) and didn't expect much because there
were too many Japanese/Korean horror movies going
on and I was sick of it... but the story and twist
at the end was AMAZING. Didn't do too well in the
scare department (other than the toy you
mentioned) but I always love a good story.
9/10 for this one.

Saw IV

Once the Saw series ends for good, everything will
probably start to piece together like one
ginormous puzzle and Jigsaw will be the best
villian the world has ever seen.

X-Men: The Last Stand
|
|
Someone on youtube or somewhere else pointed out
that Psylocke was listed in the credits. I haven't
seen the credits since I last watched the movie,
and I couldn't care less.
True, there
were a little too many mutants, but it kinda makes
the movie and subplots interesting, like how
Rogue's decision to go for the cure shows how some
people are so desperate to be 'normal' and how it
affects Bobby Drake. Multiple Man was there to
distract the guards during that ambush. Angel's
character was overhyped, but it did serve a
purpose... proving his dad wrong, I suppose. While
these may seem like small non-key events, during a
movie screening, it does kinda make you go... SEE
TOLD YA.
I think you were just
thinking that these characters didn't get enough
screentime, so you felt that there were too many
mutants. It's supposed to be an all out war, so it
has to feel epic and huge.
Don't
worry, you'll get to see Gambit in X-Men Origins:
Wolverine. The writers probably didn't know how
to fit a fighting card tossing cajun in the movie,
so they scrapped him.
By the way,
when Bobby Drake turned into ice, I kinda screamed
in excitement.

The Mist
|
|
It just doesn't let up. It doesn't let you breathe
for one second. I was highly entertained by this
movie. I did not see the ending coming AT ALL and
it was depressing, but it was amazingly shot. A
bad director could have fucked that scene up.
1408 still wins for the fright and
mind-fuck factor though. Looks like King
adaptations are starting to get better.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
|
|
Yeah, it was pretty boring to me. Not to mention
the fight scenes were very very jumpy, like almost
all fight scenes in action movies.
Why can't they shoot scenes Matrix style, which
uses minimal movement yet effective angles?

1408

The fright factor in this movie definitely worked.
If there was a Hell, 1408 would be it. Just a
question... what's Cusack's look in the poster?

Ghost Rider
|
|
I thought the battle scenes were too simple and
short. Hell-flaming the chain and creating a
hellflame tornado? Too easy. There were no proper
battle scenes and yes, Blackheart didn't look like
Blackheart AT ALL. Blackheart is supposed to be
like 11 feet tall and look all spiky and badass.
The film version looked like he just stepped out
of a boyband video.
Also, what's up
with the music when they were riding across the
desert? Too much of a redneck-fest to me. It felt
like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly with Satan
involved... only suckier.

Daredevil

Strangely enough, Jon Favreau had the best
character.
And yes, they should make
a Deadpool movie. He is such a character. Deadpool
and Cable is my favourite superhero tag team ever.

You're right to say it's not fair to expect the
writers to condense all that plot into a movie,
but at least keep the uniforms blue and
yellow!

Batman Returns
|
|
I totally agree with this review, although Frank
Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
apparently 'brought Batman back to his dark
roots'. So it's really up to preference. Although
I still feel that Nolan tried to hard to make it
too dark. I wonder how Robin will look like when
he enters Nolan's Batman. He can't possibly wear
red, yellow and green right?
I still
think the best Joker is from Batman: Dead End.
Although he didn't get enough screentime, he looks
twistedly happy and psychoic at the same time.
Nolan's Joker is too depressive and psychotic.
There's a reason why Joker wears purple and has
green hair... to make him into a campy character.

probably that's what Fessenden wanted.
We need to get a good discussion going on here

I'm surprised they didn't include the Batphone for

Godzilla
|
|
I'm still bummed that this Godzilla is not the
size it's supposed to be (according to the poster
with its foot, not the Japanese version).
Another thing that bugs me is that this
Godzilla has flammable breath as apposed to atomic
'breath'. I guess they're just trying to make it
realistic. Well, nothing more realistic than a 40
storey tall lizard running around.
All in all, I found it pretty entertaining.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
|
|
Cyrax was totally made of plastic and Mileena (a
pivotal character in the original storyline) had a
3 minute screentime.
I honestly found
it to be good... for a B grade movie. The
soundtrack was totally awesome, though.

Mortal Kombat
|
|
I loved this movie. The only disappointing aspect
was the lack of blood drenched fatalities... which
was the main highlight of the game anyways.
But the friendship part was kinda cool
(where Johnny Cage throws an autographed photo of
himself after beating Scorpion).

Spider-Man 3
|
|
This was like a musical rendition of Spider-Man.
Did some Bollywood director do this? Venom was
absolutely disappointing. No long tongue, no
saliva dripping, AND HIS WEB WAS BLACK!! Was it
even webbing?? They should have gotten Dolph
Lundgren to be Brock. He'd be soooo much better...
even though alot older. I can visualise Dolph as
Brock... AND Venom.

the best scenes in ANY movie EVER.

The Joker was amazing. The BEST Joker EVER. Looked
like he just popped out of the animated series,
only more evil. The best Batman I've ever seen
too. Not too much armor. Very Adam West-esque.
10/10. Btw the Predators looked awesome too.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse
|
|
Surprisingly, I preferred this instead of the
first. I find that it had alot of similarities to
the Resident Evil: Nemesis game installment. The
fact that you couldn't kill Nemesis until near the
end of the game (you could only run away from him,
which was what Alice did). I have already embraced
the fact that Resident Evil is more sci-fi/action
than zombie movie, so I'm willing to let that go.
The action sequences were really nice. 6/10
