Tales Of The Walking Dead

One great episode and one episode that was just
alright. Those aren't great numbers for a six
episode series, and I say this as a huge TWD fan.

Slumber Party Massacre

This was such a great homage to the bad eighties
slashers that I love so much. Yeah, it's cheesy,
and yeah, it's pretty damned silly, but damned if
I didn't enjoy it.

Castle Rock: Season 1
|
|
This was really good, right up until the final two
episodes. It felt like they didn't know how to
end it, or alternatively, tried to rush an ending
that could have been great and instead left us
puzzled. Still, it was really good up until then,
and King fans in particular will love the
countless nods and references.

Duke Nukem punching a dinosaur in the face, and

Cat Sick Blues
|
|
Really, really good, even if it did leave me
saying "What the fuck" a couple of times. I mean,
a ribbed cat cock? Still, it was enjoyable as all
hell, and it was a very good, very bizarre little
horror flick. And that ending? If that doesn't
bring a tear to your eye, you're not human.

Creepshow: Season 1

Loved this show, they really knocked it out of the
park. The best episodes are really, really good,
and even the worst episodes are still pretty
damned good.

Dead Trigger

I wasn't expecting an amazing movie by any means,
but I thought that this had potential for some
goofy, mindless fun. I was very, very wrong. It
just didn't work in any way, and there's not much
good that I could say about it. Leave it on the
shelf.

WH20: Anything You Can Do... We Can Do Better
|
|
Had an amazing time at the debut show of the
women's side of H20 Wrestling: Hardcore Hustle
Organization. It took damned near three hours to
get up to Jersey with Joe and about forty tolls
either way, but it was well worth it. Probably one
of the best live shows I've ever seen. Those women
busted ass to put on a great show, and it wasn't
like most of the indie shows where you're sitting
through two hours of fluff to get to the one hour
of decent shit... this one was great from top to
bottom.
AmyLee Murray-Palmer is the
queen, was great to finally see her live. And I
got my change for the shirt "straight from her
tit", haha. Brittany Blake is cool and put on a
really good match, and Maria Manic was a beast...
much different from the last time I saw her. And
she used me as leverage to choke a bitch out with
her foot! Then there was the main event with Randi
West vs Amazing Maria - those ladies pulled out
all the stops. Chairs, ladders, barbed wire
(including a barbed wire baseball bat to the
crotch), numerous nearfalls, and a brawl no more
than two feet in front of us. Then a hot angle
between Maria and Terra Calaway to wrap up the
show, and they left us wanting more.
Can you tell I loved the show?

The Best Of Deathmatch Wrestling, Vol. 4: Queens Of The Deathmatch
|
|
The dubbed music was terrible and there were way
too many replays after the matches, but that's
more of a complaint with the DVD itself. The event
itself was excellent and very brutal, and it even
managed to get the non-wrestling-fan woman of the
house into it.

Day Of The Dead: Bloodline
|
|
As a remake or reimagining or whatever of the
original, it's embarrassing. As a standalone
zombie flick... it's mediocre at its very best.
Laughable plot, weak special effects, bad acting,
and only one or two scenes that I could really get
into. Definitely not worth it. 3/10, and even that
might be too high.

The Mist
|
|
I really enjoyed how this wasn't just another
retelling of the story, but something entirely
new. I mean, yeah, the mist itself is still the
same, but that's where the similarities end. That
worked out wonderfully and kept us interested...
and made me binge the entire season in one night.
Shame that they're not doing a second season.

I've been enjoying these movies. I'll concede
that not much changes from one to the next, but
it's a gimmick that I enjoy.

The Lords Of Salem
|
|
This is definitely one of those movies that will
be very hit or miss. Honestly, it took me a while
to even decide whether or not I liked it, but
after letting it bounce around in my mind for a
while, I think I can say that I really liked it.
It's a very atmospheric flick and there are parts
that really stuck with me, so yeah, I'd definitely
recommend it. Not Zombie's best, but still quite
good - and Sheri Moon Zombie is actually becoming
a rather decent actress. 8/10.

Texas Chainsaw
|
|
Yeah, I'll agree on "the line", but not
much else. They had to build up to all of the
cousins / relationship / defending stuff, because
I mean, it wouldn't have worked if they had just
jumped into that - why the fuck is Leatherface
defending this broad? Oh, it's explained, it
makes sense. Also, he never really changed from
bad guy (original movie) to good guy (this one),
it's just that if you take this as it's meant to
be - a direct sequel - then the revenge angle
works. So, it kind of SEEMS like he's the good
guy, going after these other antagonists, but it's
just his revenge.
I'm not saying the
movie was perfect, but it had a solid storyline to
it and I think fans of the original would
definitely enjoy this. Not prefer or anything,
but enjoy.

Texas Chainsaw

I'm going to have to disagree, I liked this movie.
I've always had a soft spot for Leatherface, so
the direction they took the character in worked
for me. As for "does anybody actually want
to see him as a good guy", I'd like to point
to The Devil's Rejects. Sometimes, it's fun to
root for the bad guys.

Raw 100: The Top 100 Moments In Raw History

"the WCW/ECW alliance, one of the worst
executed angles in modern history"
Did they show where all the ECW guys came out to
"save" the WWE guys, before turning on
them and then reforming ECW? Because THAT was a
badass moment (except for Stephanie's inclusion).
Everything after that sucked, but that one night
was great.

Mad Ron's Prevues From Hell

I've seen about half of the movies shown here, but
there were a few hidden gems tucked away that I'm
going to have to hunt down. I had fun watching
this, so I have to give it a thumbs up. As a side
note, I picked out four clips that Rob Zombie
sampled in his songs. My word.

It's nothing new, I'll give you that, but I still

Bad freaking ass. Not perfect, but I had fun with
this one. 7/10.

When a Killer Calls was infinitely better than the

it was ripping the remake off and not the

Potnah

I haven't seen the movie so I can't comment either
way, but keep in mind that any press is good
press. I would never have heard of the movie had
Bill not written this review, but after reading
it, I'm interested in checking it out and will be
tracking down a copy. Some other readers may feel
the same - having a movie pointed out to them and
telling them "it's an average flick" is
a whole lot better than them never hearing about
it in the first place.

Other than that, it never lost my interest.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

It couldn't have been much worse. The script was
the main problem though, so I guess it all comes
down to "did Troy Nixey follow it to the
letter, and if so, would del Toro have diverted
radically from it?"

Chain Letter
|

I wasn't blown away or anything, but it was
alright. Like the review said, there were some
neat kills and a decent killer, and that goes a
long way in this household. I wasn't too fond of
the lack of an ending though - seriously, the
movie just stops in the middle of a scene. It
feels like the last ten minutes came up missing
and they just said "fuck it" and
released it anyway.

Poltergeist
|
|
I guess I'm going to be the odd man out here, but
I didn't think the movie was anything special
aside from the special effects. Take those out of
the equation, and you're left with a movie that is
just sort of there - it's not bad, but it's far
from great. I had fond memories of this as well,
but watching it again today, I just don't see what
the fuss was about. 6/10.
Oh, and I
also hate it when the score overwhelms the
dialogue in a movie, and that happens constantly
throughout this one. Annoying.

Dracula vs. Frankenstein

Blades
|
|
This was a decent parody of Jaws... on paper.
Just swap out the shark for a lawnmower and the
ocean for a golf course, and bam! Great parody
action. However, the actual film was way too long
and much too padded, and I just couldn't get into
it that much. 5/10.

The Dead Zone
|
|
I really enjoyed the book, but this adaptation was
a small step up from awful. The problem is that
they wanted to keep everything from the book in
the movie, but they didn't have time to devote to
all of it... so they jumped from scene to scene at
a frantic pace. With a longer running time or
with less of the stuff from the book, this could
have been a great movie. As is, not so much.

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)
|
|
Loved this movie, and it topped the original in
just about every way. The ending was a bit of a
let-down, but that could be because the unrated
cut isn't out yet (I purchased this though Xbox
VOD). Even in its cut form though, this film will
make you cry.

Dead Stop
|
|
It was better where it was. Seeing the zombie pop
up in the back seat was a nice little shock since
we had no idea what was going on... but with the
news clip at the beginning, we'd have known where
it was going before it actually happened and it
would have killed that shock factor.

Dead Stop

Once again, I enjoyed this one just a little more
than you did. It's a decent take on the zombie
genre (yeah, I spoiled it), and as a "slice
of life" short, it was a pretty good shot at
showing the outbreak of a zombie epidemic. I
wasn't a huge fan of the actor playing the main
cop, but otherwise, this one gets a thumbs up from
me. 7/10.

Yeah, in the book, he turned into a
half-werepanther. In other words, he didn't turn
into a full-blown panther like the Hot Shot
hillbillies, but he was kinda like the wolfman...
only, a panther version. It led to some neat
storyline angles, but alas, they pissed it away
here. Disappointing, especially considering the
build to it.

I enjoyed watching all of this insanity once

forty... well, you figure it out. Maybe someday
wrestling will be fun again.
