Edward Scissorhands

Poor Edward. He's a creation of a lonely old inventor, who suddenly dies while finishing him up. He lives alone in the castle on top of the hill, until the local Avon lady finds him and takes him back to her house. Edward becomes quite the freakshow, as everyone wants to see the new weirdo in town. The boyfriend of the Avon lady's daughter isn't too fond of him, however, and some crazy stuff happens as a result.

Classic flick right here, again from our good pal Tim Burton. He sure does have a nice track-record going on, eh? Very nice storyline, some much more darker moments than I'd have expected from this type of movie, and nice use of coloring in the scenery and sets. The gothic flavoring to Edward worked out nicely, it made him stand out even more then the scissors-for-hands would have. The acting was nice all around, but Johnny Depp pulls out the most suprising performance here as Edward; very excellently done from him. Winona Ryder was also great as Edward's love interest, more suprising stuff there.

I liked how they put a few different genres together in this one, and successfully made it entertaining throughout. For example, there's comedy in some scenes, drama, and even some attempts at horror. Again, it never stays on one thing for too long, keeping it all entertaining throughout. Brilliantly done.

9/10, easily.

My favorite Tim Burton film as well. Should hit you in the heart no matter who you are.

Definitely in Burton's top 3 movies. I'm not much of a fan, but the mix between a fairy tale and 1950's suburbia played out really great on film. Especially with how warped and twisted Burton's films look.

8/10
