Dead Stop

Dead Stop is a quick four minute flick by the Lost Childe Productions about what we'll call the dangers of being a public servant. The film is shot as a "found footage" type of movie made with footage from a traffic stop at a Utah gas station. Since Dead Stop is a short, I really don't want to give too much more out about the plot, but part of the problem I have with the film would be the plot itself.

While it's hard to throw a lot of story into such a short film, to me, they should have tried to put a little definition into what's going on. You basically see the main character, there's a little bit of confusion about what's happening, the film hits its "high point", and just ends (Dead Stop, har har har). The concept behind it is decent enough, I just wish they would have added another minute or two to it to either add to the suspense, or to flesh out what was going on a little more.

There's actually a little bonus clip during the credits that adds to what's happening, and it actually seems like it might have been a little more appropriate to open the film then to close it, especially with the fact that most people might not watch the full credits to an online video.

If you want to see it for yourself:

5/10.

Once again, I enjoyed this one just a little more than you did. It's a decent take on the zombie genre (yeah, I spoiled it), and as a "slice of life" short, it was a pretty good shot at showing the outbreak of a zombie epidemic. I wasn't a huge fan of the actor playing the main cop, but otherwise, this one gets a thumbs up from me. 7/10.

What a ruiner you are!

You think the exit clip would have been better in the beginning, or kept where it was?

It was better where it was. Seeing the zombie pop up in the back seat was a nice little shock since we had no idea what was going on... but with the news clip at the beginning, we'd have known where it was going before it actually happened and it would have killed that shock factor.
